Response from the Gambling Commission

  1. When asked for comment on my previous post, a spokesperson for the Gambling Commission said in an email: “We do not talk about individual cases.”
  2. The gambling regulator went on: “Online gambling operators, whether they are based here or abroad, are required to hold a Gambling Commission licence to transact with British-based consumers. Unlicensed remote operators may be liable for the offence of advertising unlawful gambling (under section 330 of the Gambling Act 2005) if the remote gambling activity isn’t blocked to consumers in Great Britain and that this is clear to consumers.”
